Confirmation Classes Begin
On March 12, you will have opportunity to become a “confirmed” or “received” member of the Episcopal Church. A Diocesan Confirmation will be held at St. Philip Cathedral in
Confirmation/reception is the fullest form of membership in the Church. It takes place in a liturgy in which one makes a mature and public profession of their faith, in the presence of a bishop. If a person has never made a mature and public profession (ie. they were baptized as an infant and never claimed the faith for themselves) they are “confirmed” into the church. If they have made a mature profession of faith in any Christian tradition, they are “received” by the bishop into the church. In either case we use the term “confirmed member” to describe their status after this liturgy.
In preparation for this day we are offering Episcopal 101, as series of 5 classes. These will be held on Tuesdays, January 31 – March 7, from 7-8:30 pm. (We will skip February 14).
This will be a good chance to meet other parishioners, and to learn more about the life and faith of the Episcopal Church. This class is also open to those who are not sure about confirmation, but would like to learn more about the church.
If you are interested in confirmation at this date, but are unable to attend these classes, call Father Hahn to discuss other options.
